Description
This iron meteorite was found in 1906 in Northern Sweden and is considered the oldest meteorite known to man; estimated to be over 1 million years old. It’s odd underground distribution, as to where found and how deep is due to the fact that it was carried into the area by glaciers and simply pushed into the locations today by ice. No crater was ever found. The specimen is recognized by collectors for being a fine octahedrite with a beautiful Widmanstatten pattern. These patterns are made up of crystals that look like plates which range from very fine to very coarse; this phenomenon can only occur in space. No two patterns are alike.
